Domino’s Tops Off Online Ordering with Pizza Tracking

Just when I thought Pizza Web sites had maxed out the quality of the online customer experience, Domino’s blows me away!

Sure, they have a nifty “build your own pizza” app. Old news. They also have sophisticated online ordering. Okay, to be expected.

You’d think that the pizza giant would sit back, admire their lead and end the customer experience with the “thank you” and a confirmation email.

Nope. There’s more to this pie.

What are the greatest fears of customers ordering their pizza online?

“Did someone get my order?”

Or, “What do I do if I don’t hear the doorbell in a half hour? Does that mean my pizza got stuck in cyberspace?”

Domino’s addressed those fears head on…with the new Domino’s Pizza Tracker!

Yes, it’s like tracking your UPS package — only so much hotter.

Place your order and you’re taken to a dashboard of pizza production stages. It also tells you exactly who has your pizza and what their doing when.

I could see that:

  • Dana prepped my pizza at 7:52pm
  • Dana put it in the oven at 7:58pm
  • Robert left the store with my pizza at 8:04pm

Domino’s — hats off to you. You’ve, once again, raised the bar for customer expectations and “value added” online content/functionality.

What will be next? Perhaps a GPS tracking system in every delivery car…allowing you to see the exact coordinates of your pie at all times?
